Holiday Cocktails

The holidays are the time when you have friends and family over for lunch or dinner. Besides cooking the main course, appetizers and desserts, you need a welcome drink to make them feel at home. So holiday cocktails are a must have this season and you need to make sure that it tastes delicious. It is advisable to make at least two or three holiday cocktails so that you have some variety. For young children you can serve up some non alcoholic holiday cocktails. Cocktails can be served along with appetizers or you can serve them before as a welcome drink. Best Holiday Cocktails

Bloody Mary Punch

Ingredients
  • 1 liter vegetable juice, chilled
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup vodka, chilled
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon old bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 celery stick
Method
In a large pitcher combine the vegetable juice, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, vodka, fresh lime juice and hot sauce. Season with freshly ground pepper and old bay seasoning. Stir with a celery stick and pour them in glasses over ice cubes to serve. This is one of the best holiday vodka cocktails and bloody Mary mix recipe.

Holiday Mimosa

Ingredients
  • 2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 bottle sparkling wine
  • 1 cup pineapple juice, chilled
  • 2 tablespoons grenadine
Method

In a small pitcher combine the freshly squeezed orange juice with pineapple juice and grenadine. Next take a champagne flute and pour the orange and pineapple juice mixture along with sparkling wine in equal quantities. Serve them chilled with a slice of fresh pineapple.

Vodka Spritzer

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cup vodka
  • 5 cups orange juice
  • ½ cup maraschino cherry juice
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups chilled lemon flavored soda
  • lemon slices
  • Mint sprigs
Method

In a pitcher combine the vodka with orange juice, maraschino cherry juice, lemon juice and soda. Stir them well and serve them in chilled glasses over ice cubes. Garnish with mint sprigs and lemon slices. This is among the best vodka drinks and as such is perfect for the holidays.

Orange and Grape Cooler

Ingredients
  • 1 cup white grape juice
  • 1 liter bottle ginger ale, chilled
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 1 cup water
Method
In a medium saucepan heat the water and add sugar. Stir the sugar until it dissolves and then allow this to cool. Add the white grape juice and orange juice to this mixture and chill in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours. Before serving, stir in the ginger ale and add ice cubes. This is one of the best non alcoholic holiday cocktails and kids are sure to like it. Non alcoholic fruit cocktails like this are very easy to make.

Rum Punch
Ingredients
  • 4 cups mango juice, chilled
  • 1 ½ cup dark rum
  • ½ cup sugar
  • Juice of 3 limes
  • 3 cups pineapple juice, chilled
  • 3 cups club soda, chilled
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup grenadine
Method

In a small saucepan heat the water and add sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves in water. Place sugar mixture aside to cool. In a pitcher combine the mango juice with vodka, lime juice, pineapple juice, grenadine and club soda. Add the cooled sugar mixture to it and stir to combine. Serve this rum holiday cocktails over ice in tall glasses. This is a classic rum drink and your guests are sure to like it.

Mint Bellinis
Ingredients
  • 4 cans peach nectar
  • 2 ½ cups sparkling wine
  • ¼ cup mint leaves, firmly packed
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon
Method

In a saucepan, bring to boil the peach nectar along with sugar, lemon juice and mint leaves. Cook on a low flame for about 15 minutes and then allow it to cool. Discard the mint leaves and place the mixture in the refrigerator to chill. For serving, add this mixture to sparkling wine and serve this bellini recipe in wine glasses garnished with mint sprigs.
