New Coughee Brothaz CD IN STORES Next Tuesday Sept. 4th!

MAYNE IT'S REALLY BOUT TO GO DOWN!

Devin the Dude Present's - The Coughee Brothaz - Waitin' Our Turn, the first release from Devin's independent imprint COUGHEE BROTHAZ MUSIC! This collective of brilliant musical misfits is about to change the game. People like myself can complain about the current state of hip-hop all day long, but real talk, if we want to make a change we all need to support independent releases such as this.

Then maybe we can get back to the real shit.

I'd like to ask a favor of all of my readers. Real talk, if you could take 1 minute out of your day and help me/them, it'll mean a lot. I would love it if each and every one of you would call your favorite record shop - not every shop in your city, just one - including Best Buy, Circuit City, Target and any big chain if you don't have a solid mom and pop shop near by, and merely ask them if they have the new Devin the Dude CD - "Waitin' Our Turn."

When they say "Yes we have the new Devin, Waiting to Inhale," you say "NO NO NO there's a new CD called Devin the Dude Presents the Coughee Brothaz and it's called Waiting Our Turn."

Then you know, they'll either say they have it on order as it comes out on Tuesday, or they will tell you that you are wrong and don't know shit about music. I never knew why so many record shop employees were pricks, but they are, it just is what it is.

Anyway, you have no idea how much that would help us. This is a real, genuine, independent record. There's not a lot of money being thrown around, it's just real music for real people (with a 46 date U.S. tour to follow!)

Also, how would you like to become a Coughee Brotha or Sista? Well, they are currently looking for good brothaz and sistaz of all backgrounds, in all areas to become their street team. They have posters, stickers and some other special items they can send you to post up everywhere. It's not a paid position, but join the street team and you'll get backstage passes for Devin and The Coughee Brothaz shows when they come thru your town, and you'll be part of a genuine movement.

HEADS UNITE! EMAIL COUGHEE BROTHAZ AT GMAIL for more info and to request street team materials!

Anyway, if you are in Houston we've got two very special events coming up. Firstly, tomorrow night (Thursday Aug. 31st) it's Coughee Brotha Head's birthday party at the Proletariat. DEVIN THE DUDE WILL NOT BE THERE HE WILL BE IN SAN FRANCISCO (just to be clear) BUT 14K and most all the other Coughee Brothaz will be in the house performing and DOMO (DJ and Producer for Geto Boys, Scarface, Devin and more) will be on the wheels of steel alongside Witnes and Dayta and drinks will be cheap all night. Peep the flyer and come out and party with us. We may actuallyhave some CD's to sell as well. At least come get a poster!

Then next Friday Night, September 7th IT'S THE OFFICIAL RELEASE PARTY AT CLUB BUTTA!

I expect to see all sides of Houston from the 5th Ward to the Southside Skatepark reppin' up in there that night. Brazoria County, Beaumont, SA, Austin, Dallas, seriously this would be a great weekend for you to come visit Houston. Believe me this event is going to be HISTORIC and Devin and the CBz have some special surprises for you. You have no idea. Special guests all night long and man it's gonna be insane. Everyone gonna be a V.I.P at this event, including you. It's at Club Butta on that SW side, and no I honestly don't go clubbing on the SW all too often either, but I'll be there that night and hope you will be as well.

Also - to all rappers in Houston - you need to support Devin on his first independent venture. Come show love.

Seriously, I want to see people from all over the region out there. And hey, XXL, Source, BET types, get up in yo budget and come down as well, this shit gonna be historic. We can't fly you in, but we'll get you high as a freakin' kite and you can stay in my guest room.

COME DOWN!

REAL DJS DO NOT FORGET TO DOWNLOAD THE TWO RADIO EDIT SINGLES FOR THIS RELEASE. QUIT FAKIN'!

ON THE ROAD

DON'T GET ME WRONG

Also, my good friend Hadeel asked me to post up about this event coming to Houston in October...

Named UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2005 for his artistic achievements and humanitarian work, Lebanese singer, composer and oud (Near Eastern lute) master Marcel Khalife reshapes traditional Arab music into an alluring, universally communicative form of expression. Khalife has been injecting a new life into the oud through his deep attachment to the lyrical text, through his association with great contemporary Arab poets, most notably the renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.

Marcel Khalife is that rare thing - and take it from me, it is rare, because I know a lot about music - he is a musician engage. He is involved in the society and the times of which he is a part. Professor Edward Said
